Ways To Make Money by Going Green

Go Green!

We’re not just talking about saving the environment, though. We're also talking about lining your pockets with the color of money.

If you think saving the environment is expensive, you couldn’t be more wrong. You don’t have to spend a lot of money to go green. It's more about buying less and throwing out less as well.

There’s also no need to buy expensive eco-friendly products. You can choose a natural substitute that costs less. Or you can even make some of them yourself.  You can also start small and skip those solar panels or the electric car for the time being.

Here are some easy and doable ways to save money and the environment at the same time.

Grow a Garden. Start your own vegetable garden. Begin with veggies that grow quickly and don’t require much care. If you don’t have a garden, plant some herbs and green onions in a pot by the windowsill. Herbs are practical to grow because they are usually sold in big packs which will take you forever to use up. And you’ll have to throw them out before they go bad. Growing at least 3 veggies in your garden is said to save you about $20 a week.

Sell your old electronics. Because technology moves so fast these days, you’re still trying to figure out how to use your latest phone when another model comes up and makes it obsolete. So why not sell your old electronics? There are so many online sites that accept these oldies and give you cash in return.  Plus you know they’ll be disposed of responsibly as well.

Go Minimalist. Thank you, Marie Kondo. Cut down on material consumption and the hassle of buying, keeping track and maintaining all that stuff.  It’s time to clear the clutter from your life. This means getting rid of things you rarely or never use (reduce), and either selling it or giving it away (reuse) or re-purposing it for something else (recycle). The less you buy, the more money you save.

To help you get started on your sustainable lifestyle, here are some Eco-friendly products that can get you going :

Rent your parking space. Who doesn’t have a problem with finding a parking space? And to make things worse, the more you circle the block, the more carbon emissions yourelease intothe air. There are online sites that connect drivers looking for a parking spot for a few hours with city dwellers who are willing to earn money by renting out their personal parking space when they are not being used.

Use a Cash Back Credit Card. Before you complain about crazy interest fees, listen up. Credit cards help the environment go paperless. You can view and do everything online. Plus, you save a ton of money with the cashback feature of some cards.  You get paid for every dollar you spend. Some even give a 1.5% cashback on all your purchases. There’s no annual fee and the cashback rewards don’t expire. Just make sure to always pay your bill in full every month to avoid those interest fees.

So, are you all set to start going green? Think about all the good it can do for the environment and your wallet. Going green is a definite win-win!
